What if you taught at KIPP?

It’s 7:00 AM and our schools are up and running for the day.  Teachers are making copies, checking   emails, meeting with families, and collaborating with their teams.  Between 7:30-8:00, our students flow into the building, eating their breakfast and preparing for another successful day climbing the mountain to college.  By 8:00, KIPPsters across Philadelphia are in their classrooms and instruction has begun.  In addition to teaching rigorous and engaging lessons empha sizi n g both character and academics, our teachers are provided a daily planning period and significant time for collaboration during grade level and content area meetings each week.  Between 4:00-5:00, students at each of our schools have  Nick_Bungard_0293 been dismissed for the evening. Our teachers will have their KIPP cell phone turned on until 8:30 PM, ready to answer any phone calls from students needing support with their homework or families who may have a question.

While each of our schools has a slightly different program and schedule, one belief holds true at all of our schools - being a KIPP teacher involves a great deal of commitment.  For a glimpse into a more detailed day in the life of a teacher at each of our schools, click on a school below.
