Young Friends Book Drive Collects Over $3,000 Worth of New Books for KIPPsters

Young Friends of KIPP Winter Book Drive was a big success!  Through many generous donations we were able to collect well over $3,000 worth of books.  Each student in our elementary school was delighted to open their bag and find a brand a brand new book to add to their home library.  The drive concluded with a “Buddy Read” on December 22rd where twenty-five Young Friends and other volunteers paired up with Kindergarten and first grade students to read some of their favorites.  Many volunteers remarked that they found themselves in the role of listeners and it was their “buddies” who took it upon themselves to do the reading.  Thanks again to all who contributed!
