Caitlin Wood Sklar joined KIPP Philadelphia in 2010 as Director of Development with the critical goal of supporting the growth of KPS from 2 to 10 schools. Caitlin began her career in urban education by teaching Head Start in Washington, DC. Her frustration with a system that wiped out Head Start gains by third grade led her to Georgetown University to obtain a Masters in Public Policy with a focus in education policy. Prior to joining KIPP, Caitlin worked with the founding teams of two charter schools: Community Academy Public Charter School in Washington, DC and Philadelphia Montessori Charter School here in Philly. Caitlin was responsible for operations and development at the Urban Family Institute (the organization which started Community Academy) where she worked from 1994-2002 as well as at Philadelphia Montessori Charter School. She recently received a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. When she isn't working, her favorite pastime is spending time with her husband Peter and two children, Jacob and Sarah
