What if all teachers believed their students had unlimited potential?

Extraordinary Teachers from KIPP Foundation on Vimeo.

At KIPP Philadelphia Schools, our teachers do!  Working at KIPP Philadelphia means being a part of a collaborative team determined to provide an excellent education to students in educationally underserved communities. With an unrelenting focus on results and a whatever-it-takes philosophy, we recognize that there are no shortcuts or excuses in developing a lifelong love of learning.  Our teachers are given the resources necessary to meet their students’ needs and are provided with excellent professional development experiences to ensure that all of our students reach their potential.

Being a KIPP Philadelphia teacher means you’ll be surrounded by a team of dynamic and dedicated educators deeply committed to empowering students in Philadelphia as they climb the mountain to and through college.  Every day our students and teachers are proving that unlimited potential is not just our belief, but our reality.

What can you expect when you teach at KIPP Philadelphia?

  • To and Through College.

At KIPP, college graduation is the measure of success for all of our students. From kindergarten to high school, when our students enter our doors in August, they learn the year they will go to college.  The vision of our students going to and through college never leaves our minds, and the skills we teach each day are necessary to ensure all of our students, big and small, have the opportunities to be successful in college and beyond.

  • Character and Academics.

We believe a balance of rigorous academics coupled with strong character education is necessary to develop skills needed in college and beyond.  As a result, each of our schools carries a unique set of core values that drive the character development in the school.  From explicitly designed lessons to integrating values throughout every aspect of the day, teachers and students are encouraged to act with character in everything they do.

  • Innovation and More Time.

At KPS, you won’t find a pre-developed curriculum that magically reaches all of our learners diverse needs.  Instead, we value our teachers’ ability to make decisions that are best for their students.  Teachers use data, creativity, and an understanding of their students' abilities to innovate lessons, materials, and resources in their classrooms and throughout the school.  High-quality lessons combined with more time allows for rich learning experiences in each of our schools.

  • Sharing and Collaboration.

Opportunities for sharing and collaboration at KIPP are abundant.  Each of our schools has developed a schedule that allows for collaborative time within grade level and content area teams each week.  We believe frequent collaboration ensures a consistent school culture and supports the delivery of high-quality lessons.  KIPP teachers in Philadelphia have the benefit of sharing and collaborating with more than 2,000 other teachers across the KIPP network  through summits, retreats, and our online sharing platform, KIPP Share.

  • Professional Educators with the Power to Lead.

Our teachers and staff keep our mission going strong.  Therefore, we understand the importance of treating our teachers and staff professionally, and their contributions to our schools are always appreciated.  Whether they're on the path of lifelong teaching or the path to school leadership, our teachers receive individualized professional development and support as they grow within our organization.

  • Exceptional Compensation and Benefits.

The salaries of KIPP Philadelphia teachers are extremely competitive, with additional compensation for our extended school day.  KIPP Philadelphia offers 100% employer-paid medical and dental insurance for employees and their immediate families.  Additionally, our benefits package also includes enrollment in the Pennsylvania state pension plan (PSERS), an optional 403b, and optional plans that allow you to use pre-tax dollars for medical, child care, and/ or public transportation expenses.  All staff members are also provided with a cell phone and laptop.

KIPP Philadelphia Schools is seeking innovative educators looking to transform public education in the city of Philadelphia.  If you strive to make a long-lasting impact, value being part of a professional community, and believe in all students, KIPP Philadelphia could be the place for you.
