What if your development was as important as theirs?
The Co-Teacher program is a unique opportunity to join the KIPP movement and collaborate with a team of professionals focused on helping students climb the mountain to college. The unique structure of the Co-Teacher program gives beginning teachers the training, mentorship, and experience to develop into excellent lead teachers at the early elementary level. The Co-Teacher program equips passionate, determined individuals who believe that all children can and will learn with the tools necessary to prove that where you live should not determine your success in life.
Co-Teacher Program
The goal of the Co-Teacher program is to develop talented individuals with the skills to be a lead classroom teacher in one year. To make this happen, Co-Teachers receive a unique blend of classroom experience in either reading or math, mentorship from excellent teachers, and strong professional development. Co-Teachers share a classroom and work closely with Lead Teachers to develop and teach the curriculum, shape the school’s culture, and support the success of each student in their classroom. Co-Teachers teach a combination of whole class, small group, and individualized instruction and their teaching responsibilities increase throughout the year. The program includes professional development meetings, frequent observations and coaching by school leaders and teacher coaches, and off-site excellent school visits.
Qualifications
Qualified Co-Teacher applicants possess a college degree, a passion for doing whatever it takes – every day - for children to learn, and have demonstrated dedication to providing the best education possible for all students. Preference is given to candidates with background, knowledge and experience in a school setting, and demonstrated excellence in their work and/or academic history.
