Volunteer at a KIPP Philadelphia School

At KIPP Philadelphia, our students learn that the path to college is like climbing a mountain—reaching the top is an incredible accomplishment, but getting there takes hard work and persistence.  It also requires a team effort.  Our staff and parents work relentlessly to ensure our students climb the mountain to college, but we know that the more people our students work with, the better their climb will be.  If you are interested in volunteering your time, talents and skills, please contact Theresa Doggett by clicking here.

Volunteer Opportunities

After School Tutors: While our school day is officially 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, many of our students stay after school for additional help in math and reading during our after school programs from 5:00-6:00 PM.  These programs are made possible through the efforts of volunteer tutors that work with our students in the evenings.

Classroom/School Aides: There are always opportunities to work one-on-one or in small groups with our students throughout the day, as well as supporting the daily operations of the school.

Internships: What better place to learn than a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a staff committed to changing the face of public education in Philadelphia?  Internships in education, social work, operations, development, finance and technology are available.   Eligible college students can also receive work study funding.

Saturday School Teachers: Every other Saturday our students attend school to develop their talents and interests beyond the classroom.  During this time, students have the opportunity to take non-academic classes, such as cooking, hip-hop dance, drawing, team sports, chess, ping-pong and paper crafts.  We are always looking for volunteers willing to share their talents and skills with our students by teaching at Saturday School.

School Events: Throughout the year, we have a variety of all-school and community events that require volunteers to make the days run, including a Martin Luther King Day of Service on MLK Day, an End of Year Block Party, and Community Service Day.
